The Zebra MP7000 scanner/scale combination offers aggressive scanning and minimal power draw, fantastic for grocers and other high volume retailers. Zebra built the MP7000 to future-proof your business, adding unique features to speed checkout and save space.

The MP7000 is the best scanner/scale combination to use 2D barcode scanning in both the vertical and horizontal scanning planes. These 2D barcode scanners have no moving parts, giving you near silent performance and minimal power draw compared to spinning prisms in traditional scanners. And because both scanners are 2D imagers, you can read 2D barcodes and barcodes on LCD screens with ease, fantastic for mobile coupon applications.

Mobile couponing and customer loyalty programs are giving customers tremendous convenience, and the MP7000 has been designed to leverage these programs with ease. An optional side-mounted 2D imager makes it easy for customers to scan mobile coupons without handing over their phone, giving them added peace of mind.

Zebra designed the MP7000 to cut your total cost of ownership tremendously. The 2D imagers lack moving parts, eliminating a potential failure point and operating with a potential lifespan of over 38 years. The sapphire glass on the horizontal scanning plane is scratch and wear resistant, significantly added to the MP7000's lifespan. Instead of continually running hot and power hungry prism motors, the MP7000's scanners only activate when they recognize a barcode then immediately shut off, cutting your power usage dramatically.

Imaging-based bioptic scanner\scale will help customers quickly checkout and scan traditional paper-based bar codes as well as bar codes delivered on the screen of a mobile device. Customers are rapidly adopting electronic bar codes that represent loyalty cards, discount coupons and gift cards for their value and convenience, since they can be stored on the one device they have with them at all times — their mobile phones.

With the optional Customer Side Scanner of MP7000, you can give your shoppers the convenience of scanning bar codes displayed on the screen of their mobile phones that represent electronic coupons, loyalty cards and more, as well as traditional paper coupons and plastic loyalty cards. Cashiers never need to ask customers to hand over their mobile phones to scan mobile bar codes, eliminating the liability for damages incurred if a cashier accidentally drops a shopper’s phone.

Studies have shown that in a grocery environment, the natural position of a bar code is on the top of an item around 8% of the time. Without top-down reading, all these items will need orientation, slowing the cashier and increasing musculo-skeletal load. With MP 7000 there is no need for cashiers to align bar codes with the scanner. The MP7000 offers true swipe-and-go scanning with omni-directional 360° 6-sided scanning plus a large horizontal window and a large edge-to-edge vertical window, which provide a very wide active scanning area. Cashiers just need to slide items through the scan zone and bar codes will be captured, however they are presented — even if the bar code is facing the cashier.

Manufacturers are using new GS1 DataBar and 2D bar codes to improve inventory management throughout the retail supply chain. Array imagers, as well as reading printed 1D and 2D bar codes, can also read barcodes from electronic screens, such as cell phones, data capture terminals, tablets and PC screens, in all orientations and from all windows.

Scans bar codes at a higher rate than any laser bioptic scanner available today with Motorola’s industry leading, proven imaging technology. Minimize breakdown and maintenance costs — there are no moving parts in the scan engine, reducing power consumption by at least 30 percent. Unlike laser scanners, there is no motor noise, so the MP7000 is practically silent.

Order the MP7000 with or without a scale, and a scale can be added at any time. The standard MP6000 scale measures 0-15kg in 5g increments.  This is suitable for almost all applications.  As an extra-cost option, Motorola offers a dual-interval scale, which measures 0-6kg in 2g increments/6-15kg in 5g increments. This is for specialized applications where the retailer is regularly measuring small weights, and allows the minimum amount weighed to be around half that of the standard scale. Dual-interval is not the sole offering because the more accurate scale is more costly.

In some markets, there is no need for a scale display, as the POS system displays the weight from the scale in real time (even when not actually being used for a transaction).  This is called “live weight”. Where a scale display is mandatory or used by choice, Motorola offers single- and dual-head options. The MP7000 is offered in the three most common lengths, and a single depth that suits both EU seated cashier rules and the global market.

The USB drive can then be plugged into a new or recently repaired MP7000 to automatically configure the entire system — scanner, scale, Customer Side Scanner and handheld scanner.

An impressive list of benefits provides a maximum return on this business-critical investment, as well as a low total cost of ownership.
